Funding

How we are funded

Sycamore Counselling Service is a registered charity which provides counselling to children, young people, adults and couples. Our aim is to offer a confidential, professional counselling service.

We are a counselling service for the whole community irrespective of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, belief or social background.

We currently have a staff of 1 Manager/Counsellor, 4 Counsellors, 2 of whom are trained in therapeutic play and 3 of whom are qualified Clinical Supervisors and 1 Administrator. Working alongside our paid staff are 20 volunteer students/qualified counsellors and office staff.

Each year we have to raise around £90,000 to enable the agency to run its many projects and core work to enable hundreds of clients to get the support that they need at the time that they need it.

Our funding comes from a variety of providers; some is secured to offer specific pieces of work which meet the objectives of the charity. These include:

  • Tenders and Partnership Work
  • Grants from grant making trusts
  • Invoiced work from organisations such as local employers
  • Training courses and workshops which can provide continuing professional development.

A significant amount of our funding is used to support people who come to the service in great need but who cannot afford to meet the full costs of accessing counselling at that time. These funds come from:

  • Voluntary donations from individuals,
  • Ad-hoc and regular donations from Churches
  • Fund raisers who support our charity

We do not have enough funds to offer all of our counselling for free and are always appealing for people and organisations who have a compassion for helping the disadvantaged in our community be they adults, children or young people who find themselves in desperate circumstances which prohibit them from helping themselves.

If you feel that you could help us by sponsoring an adult or child to enable them to receive free counselling please contact us and we will make an appointment for you to visit our centre to talk further about our work.

If you would like to make a regular or one off donation please fill in the contact form on this website and we will send you the necessary details to complete a donation – your support is very important to us.

May we take this opportunity to thank all of you who already support us, as without your help, we would not be here to help others.
